Wrong OS or OS version for application

You are here:

You have downloaded and installed an ‘AssistMyTeam app’ successfully on your system. However, when you tried using/running it, you may get the following error:

At Line: 4
In Function: Helper.StartRedemption
Source:
Exception Number: -2147220998
Exception Description: Wrong OS or OS version for application (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800401FA (CO_E_WRONGOSFORAPP))
OS:6.2.9200.0 (Win32NT)
Module Version: Version 5.0.11.275

The error happens if you have installed the wrong setup of the app on your system. For instance, if you have 32-bit Microsoft Office on a 64-bit Windows, you might had downloaded and installed the 64-bit setup of the app in trying to match the bit-ness of your Windows OS. However, the Windows OS bit has no play here. We have provided 32-bit and 64-bit setups of the app because your Microsoft Office can be either 32-bit or 64-bit. You should match the bit-ness of the Office and not the Windows OS.

For example, If your MS Office is 32-bit, you should download the x86 setups. (and x64 setups if your MS Office is 64-bit). It does not matter if your Windows OS is 32-bit or 64-bit.

Office 2010 to 2019 can be 32-bit or 64-bit on a 64-bit OS. So, if your OS is 64-bit, but Office is 32-bit, you should download and install the x86 setup.

After you have downloaded the correct setup type, shutdown Outlook, and uninstall the wrong ‘AssistMyTeam’ app from your system (via Control Panel > Programs and Features) and then run the setup.exe to re-install the correct one.

If you are not quite sure if your MS Office is 32 bit or 64 bit, refer to this KB article to find out more
